DCV Order for Montpellier1
|
Logan Teleflex has announced that it has won a EUR2.1 million (US$2.2m) contract to supply a Telebag IDCV (intelligent destination coded vehicle) based hold baggage screening system for Montpellier Airport.
The Montpellier order includes equipment for baggage check-in, despatch to screening, sorting and delivery to loading bays, and will utilise the company’s BAG 2000 automatic sortation system. The intelligent Telebag carts will automatically carry baggage from 16 check-in desks to 16 destination chutes and will screen bags at Levels 1,2 and 3. The carts will receive their destination missions at check-in through BAG 2000, via Montpellier’s Baggage Sorter Messaging (BSM) System.
This latest DCV contract follows the recent installation of Telebag DCVs at Nantes Airport and the current commissioning at Bordeaux.
Dave Reynolds, Sales and Marketing Director of Logan Teleflex, believes the tide has turned in favour of DCV technology as an alternative and smarter way for some airports to track baggage with 100% certainty, better manage growth within the system, as well as keeping a tighter lid on life cycle costs.
He said: “I am optimistic that Telebag will be selected for other integrated baggage handling and screening solutions in the near future. We are delighted with the interest we have received since we demonstrated our DCV system to airport managers during a presentation at Luton International Airport several months ago.”
The next generation of DCV, the IDCV (Intelligent Destination Coded Vehicle) - made up of intelligent carts which are self propelled by linear motors – has been proven to be very reliable and can track bags with 100% certainty either doing transportation, dispatch or sorting. Known as Telebag, the Fabricom Airport Systems IDCV is operating with major success at Jersey, Tromso, Luton and Nantes, with commissioning at Bordeaux airport and a further implementation at Montpellier to follow.
