Unique Induction Sorter and Latest IDCV Technology Displayed at Passenger Terminal Expo
|
Leading baggage systems integrator, Logan Teleflex showcased its latest technology Model 700RF generation of tilt tray sorting machines and Intelligent Destination Coded Vehicle (IDCV) with 100% integrated baggage screening at the recent Passenger Terminal Expo 2006 event.
This latest 3rd generation of tilt tray sorting machines is already providing high levels of availability/reliability, state-of-the-art communications and simplified maintenance for airport baggage handling operations around the world.
Operational flexibility has been a key plus point in the development of Model 700RF. For example, the machine’s “tilt action”, which even tips on bends, is motor driven and removes many of the application constraints that are associated with older technology sorters. A Radio Frequency communication system enables good application flexibility by allowing permanent communications between carriages and off board controls. But, possibly the piece de resistance is the patented induction technology, which through applied simple design achieves high induction rates of 45 bags per minute. The re-synchronisation technology automatically corrects induction problems caused by unstable bags, thereby overcoming a regular headache for maintenance staff.
And, just to further highlight the Model 700RF’s key advantages over its competitors, the machine’s innovative tray design - and clean lines under the tray - means that there is no need for infills between the trays, or other measures required to deal with overhanging bag straps.
Mechanical and Communication Improvements for Telebag
Logan Teleflex has also announced further, ‘performance enhancing’ changes to its popular IDCV, Telebag branded system, including mechanical improvements and the use of WiFi internet radio technology for data transmission. The introduction of WiFi is an important development in the evolution of the IDCV.
The simple modular concept of the IDCV product and the worldwide availability of components and products, contributes considerably to the operation and maintenance of the Telebag. This, combined with Logan Teleflex’ systematic integration design experience, allows for exceptional availability, reliability and maintenance with availability rates exceeding 99.8%.
The flexibility of the Telebag operation is enhanced with 100% baggage screening integrated into the IDCV system. This allows for optimal baggage tracking and efficient management of redundancy in the case of one or more x-ray machines failing. Telebag, which is in operation in Luton, Jersey, Bordeaux, Nantes, Montpellier and Bastia Airports, offers high levels of safety and reliability and is fully compliant with Airport safety and security requirements.
