Larger Baggage Handling for Fujairah International

Leading baggage systems integrator, Logan Teleflex has installed ten new check-in baggage conveyors for the main Departure Hall at Fujairah International Airport in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The new check-in equipment is part of an ongoing expansion and modernisation programme that will bring the Airport in line with the rapid economic development in the municipality of Fujairah. Fujairah International is increasing its capacity to handle larger volumes of passenger traffic and cargo.
A key feature of the baggage check-in conveyors is that they are much wider than normal belt sizes to accommodate larger baggage. Logan Teleflex supplied the equipment with a belt width of 700mm, to accommodate the larger size passenger bags that are more frequently used in the UAE region. This is in contrast to the standard 450mm belt width that is common to most European airports. Furthermore, the Hull-based baggage systems integrator is installing a check-in position with a 1200mm belt to process even larger, out of gauge, bags.
In addition to the Departure’s project, Logan Teleflex is also providing two Arrivals Carousels to enhance the Airport’s baggage reclaim facilities.
