Logan Teleflex strengthens UK Board

World class leading baggage systems integrator, Logan Teleflex has appointed Ron Osborne as Director and General Manager of its main operating base in Hull.

In his new role, Ron will take responsibility for all UK operational and project delivery activities for the company’s baggage handling systems products, including the technical and supply chain aspects of the business. He joins the board of Logan Teleflex UK Ltd and will continue to report to Mike Jeffery, Group Managing Director, who will focus more on sales, financial and strategic matters across the Group’s offices in the UK, USA and France.

Mike Jeffery commented: “Ron has been a driving force behind the implementation of improved operational procedures and project delivery performances. He has significantly contributed to initiatives that will shape the future direction of our business and fully deserves his promotion.”

Ron Osborne has been with the company for more than 15 years and during his career has held managerial and director level appointments. He first joined as Operations Manager, progressing to Operations Director and then Projects Director for the past three years.

He holds Engineering and Management Diplomas along with a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA). In July 2007 he gained Chartered Manager status (CMgr) from the Institute of Management.  He said of the award: “This is one of the highest awards in management within the UK. It gave me a real sense of achievement especially as the portfolio of evidence was all based on the work I have done within the UK business over the last 18/24 months.  The key to this success though revolves around people, and I can genuinely  say that I have a great team supporting me throughout the business”

Background to Ron Osborne’s career

His career began as an apprentice toolmaker with Sheffield based Land Instruments International and progressed to production engineer, quality engineer and production manager with the company. He joined Logan in 1993, during a major capital investment period for the business that was aimed at advancing its manufacturing technology in order to gain World Class status for the firm’s engineering and manufacturing operations.

He said of those times: “They were very exciting days in which the business was focused towards a lean engineering and manufacturing plant with a substantial machine tool infrastructure.  Time has moved on since these heady days and although we still have some of the original investment we have developed a substantial outsourcing program, building locally, nationally and internationally based suppliers in support of key business objectives.  Being a global provider of baggage systems only reinforces the need for a global operational base.”

Ron Osborne lives with his wife and two children in Hemingbrough near Selby. He counts golf, horse riding and playing the guitar amongst his interests.
