Logan Teleflex Sorter Selected for New Dublin Terminal 2
Logan Teleflex has been awarded the sub contract to supply its third generation tilt tray sorter technology to Siemens AG as part of the prestigious new Terminal 2 development at Dublin Airport. The 250 metre long sorter will form a backbone of the new baggage handling system being developed by Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) and Siemens the BHS integrator.
The selection of the Model 700RF sorter was made after extensive technical evaluation of this machine and competitive products. Factors such as the low energy consumption, innovative dynamic 2 speed operation which further reduces power consumption, wear and tear and maintenance requirements have been seen as major factors in favour of the Logan Teleflex Sorter. The very high availability of the Model 700 sorter, which has been operating in Dublin’s Terminal 1 since 1999, and low maintenance requirement have also had a bearing on the decision to award this £1.3 Million contract to Logan Teleflex.
The sorter will incorporate a total of 6 inductions 4 of which are dynamic high speed units. All of the inductions incorporate Logan Teleflex’s patented re-synchronisation technology, a key factor in being able to eliminate tray infills. The sorter will sort bags to a total of 15 destinations, and will include baggage bar code reading within the sorter package. The project is due for completion at the end of 2009.
